Guidelines and Schedule for Proposal Submission

Format and Content of Proposals

Proposal language: English

To facilitate the evaluation process, all proposals submitted in reply to this AO should have the following format:

Cover Letter
The cover letter shall make explicit reference to this AO, shall include the title of the proposal and shall be signed by the Principal Investigator and if applicable by the Head of the Organisation, committing the Organisation to the contents of the proposal.

Cover Page
The cover page shall include:

Abstract
The abstract (max. 1 page) shall contain a brief outline of the scientific or technological content of the proposal.

Objectives in Science, Applications or Technology
This section shall contain a definition of the objectives of the proposed experiment or investigation, a discussion of the expected results and the significance of these results for science, applications or technology. The space relevance of the experiment shall be clearly stated. For technology proposals, the proposal shall discuss the expected application of the proposed technology to future space missions or describe how the flight demonstration will help make the space product more competitive in the space market.

Experiment Description
This section shall include a description of the proposed experimental methods and techniques, as well as a detailed description of the proposed instrumentation. The expected instrument performance shall be discussed. The requirements for operations shall be identified.

Development Plan and Schedule
This section shall include a description of the experiment/instrument development, including model and testing philosophy, if applicable, and schedule information including major project milestones.

Management Plan The responsibilities of all investigators and their institutions shall be clearly described. In the case of instrument development, plans for contracts with industry shall be indicated. The funding scenario shall be described.

The above four sections of the proposal shall not exceed 20 typewritten A4 pages (1.5 line spaced) (excluding figures and tables).
