Fourth SOHO Workshop, 'Helioseismology', Asilomar, Pacific Grove, California, April 1995.
The 4th SOHO Workshop was devoted to Helioseismology. The goals were to assess the current state of this discipline of solar physics, to promote collaborations among experimenters, analysts and theorists, and to sensitise the community in preparation for the upcoming SOHO mission and the imminent start of the operation of the Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) project. The symposium was organised by J.T. Hoesema, Stanford University, and was attended by 150 scientists, including almost everyone active in this field of research. Dominant subjects were the preparation of analysis tools for the data of the SOHO helioseismology instruments and GONG, initial results of the ground networks, including progress in solar models and inversion techniques, local area helioseismology, feature tracking techniques, internal solar rotation and asteroseismology.
The Proceedings were published by ESA (ESA SP-376, 2 vols, Eds. J.T. Hoeksema, V. Domingo, B. Fleck & B. Battrick, 1995).
