Dominik Dold

Hello there! I joined the ACT as a Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in October 2021.
I did my PhD in Physics at Heidelberg University, with a focus on brain-inspired computing and computational neuroscience. Afterwards, I joined the Siemens AI Lab in Munich to research how neuromorphic systems and relational machine learning can be utilized in industrial applications. In general, I aim at uncovering how principles from neuroscience and machine learning can be combined to build energy efficient and trustworthy learning systems.
Some of the topics my work focuses on are spiking neural networks, biologically plausible learning rules, neuromorphic computing, knowledge graphs / graph learning, deep learning and explainable AI.
I believe that the recent progress in AI offers exciting opportunities for the space sector and will be essential in supporting us to further explore and understand our Solar System (and everything that lies beyond!).
In September 2024, my fellowship at the ACT ended and I continued my research as a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Vienna.
