Rachael Tozer

Hi there! My name is Rachael and I am a 2022 Young Graduate Trainee, specialising in the area of Differentiable Intelligence.

Prior to joining the ACT, I lived and studied in the beautiful country of Scotland! I completed an undergraduate integrated masters in Mathematics (MSci) at the University of Glasgow. During my undergraduate research on the theory of General Relativity and Black Holes, I discovered a hidden personal interest towards the field of astrophysics. As a result of this, I decided to pursue this further in the form of a postgraduate masters degree in Astrophysics (MSc), also at the University of Glasgow!

My postgraduate research comprised of the development and application of a physics-informed neural network (PINN) tailored to solving the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equation, not only for parameter inference but also to explore the suitability of these new ML techniques from an astrophysical perspective. I now look forward to applying this underlying knowledge and skillset within the ACT, but also to continue expanding and developing further through collaboration with the highly talented, multidisciplinary team!

Beside my academic interests, I like to spend my free time outdoors. I particularly love to go hillwalking, camping and horse riding. However, on a rainy day you will most likely find me playing videogames!
