Richard Murchie
I joined the Advanced Concepts Team as a research fellow in quantum remote sensing in October 2024. My academic background is in theoretical quantum optics: having finished a (doctoral prize) post-doc in spoofing-resilient quantum-enhanced LIDAR and a PhD in jamming-resilient quantum-enhanced LIDAR, both at the University of Strathclyde.
I'm an avid enjoyer of nature, summit camping (preferably up a Hebridean hill) and running. I also enjoy reading about unusual natural phenomena and prehistory.
A particular research interest is applying quantum cryptography techniques for remote sensing and communication problems. Another key interest is the use of non-local quantum phenomena for novel technologies.
