Become a Climate Detective with ESA
10 April 2024
Become a Climate Detective with ESA!
Are you passionate about the Earth's environment? Would you like to learn more about our amazing planet and how to protect it? If so, it’s time to become a Climate Detective!
Designed for kids up to 12 years old, Climate Detective Kids is an ESA project full of exciting, hands-on, non-competitive activities. Be a scientist, collect evidence and earn badges!
To take part, the first step is to form a team and sign-up. A team can be made up of a single child plus a mentor (such as a teacher or parent), but larger groups are encouraged - even a whole school class can be a team! Family teams are also welcome. At least half of the team members should have the nationality of an ESA Member State, plus Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Malta.
Next, select an activity! There are many to choose from - you can investigate the effects of melting ice, explore images of the Earth taken from space, and even become an astro-farmer! Test your knowledge of how we collect images to monitor Earth in a quiz or learn about forests in the Forest Kids game on biodiversity. Submit a description and an image of your completed activity to earn a badge for each activity you complete. Collect a bronze, silver and gold badge to earn a virtual certificate in recognition of your skills as a Climate Detective!
Every submitted activity will be added to the European Activity Gallery. Share it with your family and friends and discover all the amazing work done by other Climate Detectives Kids.
The Climate Detectives Kids project is open until 25 April 2024, so why not start your team today? The more we know about our planet, the more we can do to protect it!
