Would you like to see your own space artwork on the ESA Kids site? Here's your chance! Every month ESA Kids is looking at a different theme in more detail. Themes include everything from orbits and planets to astronauts and asteroids.

On 29 April, a new satellite will head to space on a very special mission: to uncover the hidden secrets of Earth’s forests! The Biomass satellite will use advanced radio waves (radar) to look through the top of the forest, revealing what’s happening inside. From measuring the height and thickness of trees to tracking how much carbon forests store, Biomass will help us understand nature’s mysteries like never before.

Forests are full of secrets—both on Earth and in our imaginations. What do you think goes on beneath the leafy cover? Are there fascinating creatures hiding among the roots? Do trees whisper to each other in a secret language? Maybe there’s an alien forest on a distant planet, filled with glowing plants and strange lifeforms. Whether you’re inspired by real science or your wildest imagination, we want to see your vision of "The Secret Life of Forests"!

This month's competition: The Secret Life of Forests

Entries must be submitted by 30 April 2025.

Need some inspiration? Come play with Paxi and travel around the world to discover four amazing types of forests—boreal, tropical, temperate, and arid!

Look for interesting plants and animals, match animals to their homes, and learn how to protect our planet!
