Digitalisation in focus: ESA opportunities for industry
ESA seeks European space and non-space companies with expertise in IT project development and consulting to support the digital modernisation of Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana.
Overall, the digital modernisation of the spaceport, also known as the Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG), is expected to be composed of approximately 40 different projects with a combined budget of between 40–45MEUR. These projects will be divided among the main themes:
- Technical Support, IT Project Development and Consulting;
- Infrastructure and Hardware;
- Operations (satellites and chronology);
- Maintenance, Repair and Operations;
- Security and Protection;
- Communications and People.
On 4 July, ESA and the French Space Agency CNES co-hosted an event at ESA Headquarters to present these digitalisation opportunities to industry. The event focused on the Technical Support aspects (theme 1), whose collective goal is to help CNES to define, organise, and operate the larger digitalisation effort at the spaceport (themes 2–6).
