ESA: the most innovative workplace in the Netherlands
ESA is the most innovative place to work in the Netherlands, according to Dutch technology students. On Monday, the Agency was presented with the award at the first Universum Awards in the Netherlands.
Universum also released the list of 100 employers where Dutch students are most keen to work – ESA ranks 20th and is the highest-ranked newcomer for technology students.
The list results from a survey of 20 000 university and school students in the Netherlands, with 4000 of them enrolled in technical studies.
The list was produced by Universum Global, which helps employers to assess their attractiveness to potential recruits.
The survey also reveals that almost a third of all technical students want to work as engineers. Companies who want to recruit such talent should focus on entrepreneurship and offer an intellectual challenge. Most students stated these are the important values in choosing where they want to work.
ESA’s high ranking reflects these results. Entrepreneurship is highlighted – ESA’s efforts in technology transfer and business incubation have contributed to ESA’s standing.
"We really couldn't have made our trip over here without the help of space," ESA engineer Friederike Beyer said while accepting the award with two of her colleagues. "From navigation satellites to systems that tell us if it’s going to rain, space is everywhere."
