ESA has released its latest Responsibility and Sustainability Report, highlighting the agency’s commitment to sustainable practices that pave the way towards a more responsible European space sector.

During 2022 and 2023, ESA developed and began implementing the ESA Green Agenda, our programme for making our future activity better contribute to the sustainable development of society. We also reinforced our efforts on space sustainability through activities around the Zero Debris Initiative and reinforced the international commitment by signing the Zero Debris Charter.

As part of our efforts to get the space industry involved in its mission, ESA brought many organisations and companies together to sign the Statement for a Responsible Space Sector and express their commitment to the long-term sustainability of space projects.  The agency also established the ethical, social and environmental responsibility expectations it has for its suppliers with the ESA CSR Code of Conduct, which was adopted by the ESA Council.
