To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February 2022, together with our EIROforum colleagues, we challenged children to get creative and celebrate the day by submitting a drawing with the theme of ‘Women in Science’.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science aims to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and to serve as a reminder that women and girls play a critical role in science and technology communities and that their participation should be strengthened.

To recognise these inspirational contributions, the children in the lives of ESA staff have – in great numbers – answered the call to get creative and submit artwork that celebrates women in science!

The young artists have come from across Europe and beyond, spanning all ages up to 12 years old, with a balanced contribution from both boys and girls. We received drawings, sketches, paintings, digital art and much more from the children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and siblings of our ESA colleagues!

The excellent drawing of Xihao (6 years-old) has been selected to represent ESA in the EIROforum digital collage. The collage was created using images from each member organisation of EIROforum. Click here to view the other contributions to the digital collage.

Thank you all, once again, for reaching out and getting all the young artists involved to celebrate this important day!
