ESA SP-1332 Sentinel-5 Precursor
As part of Copernicus, ESA, in collaboration with the Netherlands, has developed a low-cost single-satellite atmospheric chemistry mission to fill the gap between the end of the current atmospheric chemistry mission (the Ozone Monitoring Instrument on EOS/Aura) and the operational availability of Sentinel-5 on MetOp Second Generation. The objective of the Sentinel-5 Precursor mission is to provide high-quality and timely information on the global atmospheric composition for climate and air-quality applications.
This publication provides an overview of the essential features of the mission, including the technical system concept, applications and products, system validation and operations.
