ESRIN from 400 km above
In this image of the coastal area to the southeast of Rome, taken by Paolo Nespoli from the ISS, you can pick out the Castelli area, where ESRIN is located. This image was taken last Sunday from the International Space Station, orbiting at 400 km above the Earth. The two lakes, Albano and Nemi to the south of Frascati, are easily identifiable.
Paolo Nespoli arrived on the ISS on 17 December and will stay in orbit for six months on the MagISStra mission, serving as flight engineer and carrying out an intensive programme of experiments. Through his Twitter account, he has also been sending images of life on board the Station and beautiful views of Earth like the one above.
