Watch live: Helix Nebula – The Science Cloud
Discover the Helix Nebula – the Science Cloud, a pioneering partnership between big science and big business in Europe that is charting a course towards the sustainable provision of cloud computing for science. The event will be streamed live on Wednesday, 16 January from 14:30 to 19:10 CET.
This high-level European event, organised by ESA in collaboration with the Helix Nebula consortium, is part of an overall cloud computing initiative that is aiming to build an ecosystem initially of data providers, scientists, small and medium companies, IT and downstream industry, working together to create a open and competitive market place for science, services and business.
The conference will present the results of the proof-of-concept phase, when three flagship cases were deployed and tested. New flagship candidates will also be introduced by new members joining the consortium.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with cloud computing experts, small and medium enterprises, representatives of the European Commission and leading research centres.
Each participant will contribute to shaping the overall cloud strategy and provide feedback and suggestions on the results of the proof-of-concept stage.
ESA Director Hans Georg Mockel, EC Director for Excellence in Science Thierry Van der Pyl, speakers from scientific institutions and representatives from industry will discuss their views, experiences and expectations.
The full agenda of the event can be found on the conference website.
