ESA School Days 2024: bringing space to schoolchildren
Unforgettable days of discoveries and inspiration await hundreds of students in 2024. ESRIN will welcome schoolchildren from 11 to 15 March for ESA School Days. Registration is now open.
ESA’s Centre for Earth Observation in Frascati, Rome, is getting ready to host around 1500 young students from 11 to 15 March. This initiative, ESA School Days 2024, will offer students the chance to discover for themselves and be inspired by space.
The initiative, with the participation of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), aims to engage and inspire the next generation of STEM students. It will share knowledge about space and the European Space Agency, bridging the gap between the world of space and schools.
ESRIN will welcome primary school students (4th and 5th grades) on 11, 12 and 13 March, while 14 and 15 March will be dedicated to secondary schools. During these five days of presentations and laboratories, schools from across Italy will have the opportunity to explore the wide range of space activities carried out at ESA’s establishment.
Students and teachers will be able to take part in extraordinary educational experiences, such as rocket model launch demonstrations, scientific workshops and immersive visits. They will also have the chance to get insights into Earth observation satellites, launcher programmes, and planetary defence activities from meteorites and asteroids.
Significant emphasis will be placed on Earth Observation missions and the pivotal role played by ESA in the preservation of our planet. Students will have the chance to visit ESRIN’s Earth Observation Multimedia Centre, where they will discover how satellite data are used to monitor and possibly mitigate the effects of climate change on our planet.
To participate in ESA School Days 2024, schools are requested to complete online registrations. For more information, please check the Italian page of the ESA portal (Italian only).
