Triton-X
Triton-X is a new competitive and multi-mission European micro-satellite platform product line. It is designed to give low-cost and fast-track access to space for commercial and institutional applications in low Earth orbit.
Triton-X is a new micro-satellite platform product line, designed with a high level of flexibility, which allows easy adaptation to different payloads and mission profiles, minimising costs and time to market for any new mission.
The Triton-X product line consists of three versions:
Light | 45 kg satellite launch mass | 12.5 kg payload mass | 15 W payload average orbit power |
Medium | 80 kg satellite launch mass | 30 kg payload mass | 40 W payload average orbit power |
Heavy | 200 kg satellite launch mass | 90 kg payload mass | 110W payload average orbit power |
The Triton-X platform innovative concept provides low-cost and fast-track access to space for both commercial and institutional low Earth orbit applications. It is the first generic platform range specifically developed for a wide range of applications including telecommunication, Earth observation, in-orbit demonstration and validation, situational awareness and optical missions. It is tailored to be compatible with the new generation small launchers and rideshare missions.
Six ESA member states have subscribed to Triton-X. The programme is led by LuxSpace in Luxembourg as the prime contractor with six industrial partners and ten suppliers across Europe.
Triton-X is part of ESA’s programme of Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES). Like other Partnership Projects, it is expected to generate an exceptional return on investment to European industry and ESA’s Member States.
