Operations and data flow
The Altius satellite flies in a polar, Sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 668 km with a three-day repeat cycle.
Science data are transmitted via X-band downlink to ground stations in the polar region. ESA’s European Space Security and Education Centre (ESEC) in Redu, Belgium, operates the satellite.
Once the data have been received, they are sent to the High Performance Computing centre of the Belgian Space Pole in Uccle/Ukkel in Belgium for processing and distribution to users.
