ESA PR 10-2011 - Jean-Jacques Dordain, Director General of the European Space Agency, is to meet Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship, in Paris on Friday 4 March. They will cover various subjects relating to European industry, firms and competitiveness, such as EGNOS and Galileo.

EGNOS, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service, is Europe’s first step in the area of satellite navigation. It paves the way for Galileo, Europe’s own global navigation satellite system, which is currently being built. The EGNOS open service is now operational and available for use. As of today, the safety-of-life service is also available.
