The Main Control Room (MCR) in ESOC

is used for the preparation (testing and simulation phases) of new missions and during critical mission control phases, e.g. special operations (deep-space missions) as well as for emergency or contingency operations which normally require a larger flight control team.
It provides control of the Envisat satellite through all mission phases.
