The space shuttle Columbia clears the pad on way to orbit after liftoff at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA on 16 January 2003.
Columbia was on a 16-day research mission with a crew of seven.
On 1 February 2003, Columbia and her crew were lost on re-entry.
