On of the most spectacular space endeavours of all time was the research of the Jupiter system: the NASA Galileo mission. Above all the scientists were excited about knowledge gained about the Jupiter moon Europa.
On the satellite underneath a crust of ice (see picture) maybe a saltwater lake up to 200 kilometres deep, where tropical water temperatures could prevail. The decisive recognition was that life would be possible there.
