This image covers the English Channel, south Wales and England (UK) and Britanny and Lower Normandy (France).
At the top center of the image the Severn River estuary widens into the Bristol Channel. At the top right, the sprawling city of London is crossed by the Thames River.
Although the many beautiful islands in the English Channel are well worth looking at, the most striking feature is the phytoplankton that seems to be in full bloom. The bloom extends about 420 km, from off the coast at Wilford Haven in Wales (UK) to an area off the coast of Saint Guénolé in Britanny (France).
