A typical sunspot and Earth

This is composite image of a sunspot and Earth, comparing in size the sunspot and our planet. This sunspot image was taken on 24 October 2003 by the ESA/NASA SOHO spacecraft. The sunspot region is about 64800 kilometres wide and 36000 kilometres high. The Sun has a total diameter of 1 391 000 kilometres, Earth has a diameter of 12 756 kilometres.
