Telescope frame and baffle
This image depicts the qualification model of the telescope frame and baffle of Planck in the Cleanroom at Contraves, Zurich.
The baffle serves to prevent unwanted, off-axis radiation from entering the telescope. The frame supports the telescope mirrors and the focal plane unit containing the instrument detectors.
The qualification model of the spacecraft structure will be tested to validate the mechanical design.
