SMART-1 view of possible 'peaks of eternal light'

SMART-1 image of a 275 km area close to the lunar north pole (upper left corner) observed on 19 January 2005 from around 5000 km altitude. This shows a heavily cratered highland terrain, and is used to monitor illumination of polar areas, and long shadows cast by large crater rims.
