Madagascar as seen by Proba

The north-western area of Madagascar – the fourth largest island in the world – is seen in this Proba image, acquired on 16 September 2004 by the Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (CHRIS).

The size of a washing machine, Proba satellite was originally launched in 2001 as a technology demonstrator, but is now operated as an ESA Earth Observation Third Party Mission.
