Monument Valley, home to the most populous Navajo Indian Nation, is an area of freestanding sandstone rock that straddles the borders of northeastern Arizona and southeastern Utah. ESA's Proba satellite acquired this image on 9 March 2006 with its main payload, CHRIS (Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer), designed to acquire hyperspectral images with a spatial resolution of 18 metres across an area of 14 kilometres.
