Aeolus payload components

The core space element of Aeolus is ALADIN (Atmospheric Laser Doppler Instrument), a direct detection lidar incorporating a fringe-imaging receiver (analysing aerosol and cloud backscatter) and a double-edge receiver (analysing molecular backscatter).
