What is Electric Propulsion?

Electric (or plasma ion) propulsion uses electricity generated by the spacecraft photovoltaic solar panel array to accelerate a neutral gas and generate thrust. Electric propulsion is not toxic, easier to integrate on a spacecraft and about 10 times more fuel efficient, than conventional chemical rocket propulsion systems.
