Envisat captures the southern part Canada’s Quebec province, which occupies a territory nearly three times the size of France. Quebec City, the capital of the province, is visible as the whitish area on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence River (visible flowing from the southwest to the northeast). The dark blue lake visible at the top right of the image is Lac Saint-Jean. Image acquired 26 October by the MERIS (Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) instrument aboard ESA’s Envisat satellite.
