Cosmic ray sketch

Cosmic rays are atomic nuclei (mainly protons) that are accelerated to high energies in the galaxy and can penetrate the heliosphere. During their journey, they can collide with heavy interstellar atoms, becoming radioactive. They loose part of their energy in the process.
