ESA-selected Mars500 crewmember Oliver Knickel reading a book inside the facility. Knickel is one of six crewmembers spending 105 days inside an isolation facility at the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) in Moscow, Russia. The purpose of the Mars500 study is to gather data, knowledge and experience to help prepare one day for a real mission to Mars.
