Land cover map for Ambatovy

The Belgium-based Keyobs service provider, selected by ESA, supplied the European Investment Bank with satellite images to help it assess the impact of a nickel-cobalt mining and processing project in the Ambatovy region in Eastern Madagascar. The satellite images, acquired during 2008 by SPOT5 and Landsat ETM+, were classified to extract the land cover information. Principal classes are composed by forested areas, non forested areas and bare soils.
