The European Space Agency (ESA) was created in 1975 and the ESA
Convention is its founding act, its constituent treaty. The text
adopted at that time reflected a particular vision of European
cooperation in space which remains still valid, namely to make better
use of the financial and other resources devoted by Member States to
space activities and to lead to the definition of a common European
space programme.
