The International Space Station seen from the departing Space Shuttle Atlantis on mission STS-106 following the arrival of the Russian Zvezda Service Module. From top to bottom are the modules Unity, Zarya, Zvezda and the Progress M1-3 supply spacecraft. During the course of the mission, the STS-106 crew readied the Station for permanent occupation for the arrival of its first residents, the three-man Expedition 1 crew, launched on Soyuz TM-31 on 31 October 2000.
