Few large craters survive in Ares Vallis; most have been eroded away by flood waters in Mars’ distant past. This one sits close to Oraibi crater. Clusters of small craters can be seen on the left side of the image and on the middle right of the image.
The image was acquired by Mars Express at about 16°N/327°E during orbit 9393 on 11 May 2011. The images have a ground resolution of 15 m per pixel.
