Sodankylä site

Ground-based measurements of brightness temperature are taken to validate the readings from SMOS. Like the radiometer carried on SMOS, the Elbara radiometer operates in the L-band. There are three Elbara instruments at key validation sites. This one is set up at the Finnish Meteorological Institute’s Arctic Research Centre in Sodankylä in northern Finland.
