Aalto University's Skyvan research aircraft tested a prototype PARIS receiver connected to antennas fitted to the top and underside of the aircraft (not shown in this photo) by Spain’s Institute of Space Sciences (IEEC-CSIC). It flew out of Helsinki Airport across the Gulf of Finland for two hours on 11 November 2011, cross-comparing satnav signals from space with reflected signals bouncing back off the sea in order to perform altimetry.
