ESA's third 35m tracking station is under construction in Malargüe, Argentina. Starting in 2013, it will send signals deep into our Solar System and receive data from missions like Mars Express, Venus Express, Herschel and Planck. The 600-tonne station will, together with DSA 1 (Australia) and DSA 2 (Spain), complete the 360-degree deep-space coverage needed to ensure full telecommunications during mission-critical events and enhance the return of scientific data.
