The Ismeniae Fossae region, located at approximately 40°N / 42°E near the southern highland–northern lowland boundary of Mars, was imaged by the High Resolution Stereo Camera on ESA’s Mars Express on 16 June 2013 (orbit 11709). The region highlighted in the associated images is outlined by the inner white rectangle, which includes the western portion of Moreux Crater. Ismeniae Fossae is thought to lie within a large, 350 km-wide ancient impact basin whose southeastern rim can just be made out in this map, outside of the highlighted region.
