Carmat heart

The Carmat-developed prosthetic heart has been developed utilising the expertise and technologies from European space programmes. In particular, the expertise in guaranteeing the extreme reliability of electronics on satellites helped the Carmat team to build a device that could withstand the tough conditions of the body’s circulatory system and pump 35 million times per year for at least five years without fail.
