Safer trains by space tech

When Deutsche Bundesbahn were on the outlook for a new way to test the brakes on their trains, special sensor technology which the German company Hyperschall Technologie Göttingen (HTG) had developed for ESA and DLR for research on reentry spacecraft turned out to be the right solution. Now the HTG ‘space’ sensor is used in 70 automatic train brake test stations in Germany.
