Early on 15 April 2014, a total lunar eclipse was visible from North and South America, as well as parts of Asia-Pacific. This photograph, showing the eclipsed Moon emerging from totality, was taken by Jan Hattenbach, a journalist, astronomer and blogger who viewed the eclipse from Chile.
