This image was released on 20 January 2015 to mark Penguin Awareness Day, a unique day to cherish the beauty of the well-known flightless birds with their characteristic tuxedo-like feather colouring.
Although the Antarctic is their most recognised habitat, various penguin species have spread out over the southern hemisphere, with even some colonies living at the Galapagos Islands.
One of the locations with substantial penguin populations is the Cape of Good Hope, in South Africa.
This Proba-V 100 m image, acquired on 09 January 2015, beautifully shows the Cape region, with Cape Town, Table Mountain, and the Cape of Good Hope visible in the left part.
The middle part of the image shows the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland mountain ranges.
