Flags flying at ESA’s European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany with newly installed Space Invader mosaic art above the entrance.
French artist Invader’s artwork is inspired by the archetype 1970s Space Invaders video game at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany.
Linking the International Space Station and ESA establishments in Europe, Space Invaders art has been found colonising ESA centres.
Invader established his urban alien artwork in 60 cities all over the world, including Rome, Paris, New York, Manchester, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. In 2012 he sent a mosaic into the stratosphere on a high-altitude balloon.
Not content with invading Earth orbit, the Space Invaders are gaining a foothold at ESA establishments. The first was seen at ESA’s astronaut centre in Cologne, Germany. Invader installed his artwork outside and inside the European Astronaut Centre where all ESA astronauts are trained for working in space.
