Andreas's Aurora

ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen took this picture of Aurora over our planet from the International Space Station during his 10-day 'iriss' mission in 2015.

Andreas commented simply: "First shot of Aurora: wow!"

Auroras appear when radiation from the Sun interacts with the atmosphere and almost all planets in the Solar System have auroras of some sort.
