Blood draw in space

ESA astronaut Tim Peake having his blood drawn by NASA astronaut Tim Kopra on the International Space Station during their six-month mission. This was Tim Peake’s first sample for the Canadian Marrow experiment, commenting: “First blood draw for science today! Thanks for the help Tim Kopra!”

Marrow is looking at how bone marrow and blood cell production are affected by living in weightlessness. Astronauts often take samples of blood, saliva and urine for researchers to analyse on Earth.
