This national crop-type map of the Czech Republic was created by combining over 1000 scenes from the Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and Landsat satellites taken over the course of 2015. Covering some 2 400 000 ha of arable land, it demonstrate the capabilities of the Copernicus Sentinels for agricultural monitoring of the Czech Republic, at national scale.
The main aim of the crop type product is to support the national Czech Paying Agency (The Czech State Agriculture Intervention Fund, SZIF) in its activities related to the administration and control of CAP subsidies. This proof-of-concept is implemented in close cooperation with the DG JRC, SZIF as well as involving DG-GROW, DG-AGRI and EEA in support to the recently published EC concept note “A Roadmap for Future Copernicus Service Components in support to Agriculture”.
