The Maxus-9s mission lifted off from Esrange Space Center in Kiruna, Sweden on 7 April 2017 at 11:30 CEST. The rocket delivered the payload to the edge of space before detaching, leaving the payload to free fall back to Earth, during which time the five science experiments were subjected to 12 minutes of weightlessness before a parachute-assisted touchdown. The experiment modules were then recovered and returned to the launch site by helicopter.
