The animation shows average ozone from 10 to 14 September for every year between 1996 and 2017 over the South Pole. ESA has been involved in monitoring ozone for many years. Satellites such as ERS-2, and Envisat carried instruments that measured ozone. These data, spanning more than two decades, are used by ESA’s Climate Change Initiative to create long-term ozone records.
